Project Overview
Ruana Soul Studio is a branding, audiovisual production, and web development agency based in Melbourne, focused on giving brands cohesive visual identity through a cinematic approach. We built our own agency website as a live demonstration of everything we offer: scroll-driven storytelling with GSAP, performance-first Astro engineering, SEO and AEO optimization for AI-powered search engines, and a design system that balances visual impact with conversion strategy. The site serves as both our portfolio and our best sales pitch — proving that we can deliver the same quality we promise our clients.
The Challenge
Most agency websites fall into one of two traps: they're either a visual playground with no conversion strategy, or a template site with no personality. We needed to build something that was genuinely beautiful, technically excellent, AND moved visitors toward a clear next step — all while demonstrating our capabilities in branding, web development, audiovisual production, and SEO/AEO in a cohesive way.
Our Solution
We built the site using Astro SSR for performance, with GSAP powering scroll-triggered animations and cinematic entrance sequences. The design system uses custom typography, a refined color palette, and a layout that balances information density with breathing room. Every section is a considered argument for working with us. SEO and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) were integrated from the ground up — with JSON-LD structured data, semantic HTML hierarchy, and content structured for both traditional search engines and AI answer engines. The blog pulls from our Medium RSS feed and integrates directly into the site's content ecosystem.
The Outcome
The site achieves perfect Lighthouse scores with sub-second page loads. The contact form converts at above-industry-average rates. The site ranks on page one for our primary search terms in Melbourne and performs strongly in AI-powered search results. It serves as a living portfolio that demonstrates our capabilities across branding, web development, audiovisual production, and content strategy — all in one cohesive platform.
